Luxury Chester cottages

Luxury chester cottagesFrom luxury Chester cottages the delights of this historic city, and the rest of the county of Cheshire, await discovery. Chester is the ideal location for a city break; its ancient walls date back to Roman times and encircle a treasure trove of architectural gems now preserved for posterity. Perhaps the most striking of these are The Rows, unique ‘double-decker’ parades of shops radiating out from Chester Cross and dating back to the 1300s. Retaining much of their original character the upper storeys of these properties overhang the street-level premises.

Chester is certainly a shopper’s paradise; among its distinctive black-and-white chequered buildings can be found a wide range of cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes and both high-street and independent traders. Many of the latter are based in lovely, cobbled Watergate Street, located close to the cathedral.
The cathedral is a tourist attraction in itself, with entry free of charge. This former abbey building, with its cloisters, wealth of stained glass and woodcarvings, offers visitors refreshment in the Refectory Cafe, located in the former monks’ dining hall.
Opposite the cathedral, on Northgate Street, is the first port of call for anyone unfamiliar with this fascinating city; Chester Visitor Information Centre is open every day all year round, offering information and selling tickets for local attractions.
These include guided walking tours of the city’s hidden treasures and city walls, open-top bus trips around its streets and sightseeing cruises on the River Dee. Chester has its very own racecourse, located right on the city’s doorstep, while just a short distance away is the renowned Chester Zoo and also the Blue Planet Aquarium at Ellesmere Port.
From luxury cottages Chester is the perfect destination for a city break or short holiday in this part of the country.
